Wastewater AMR Surveillance Literature Dashboard

Interactive view of publication frequency, methods, and country coverage based on the supplied supplementary workbook. The global choropleth reflects the source data faithfully. The India panel uses a full-India map reference, including Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, because the source workbook does not contain India-internal geography.

Boundary note

The India reference map is rendered with a full-India geometry for territorial completeness. International boundary interpretation may differ across sources.

Better Representation Recommendations

Ways to present the workbook and review findings more clearly.

For the Excel workbook

  • Convert the sheet into a normalized table with one study table plus separate linked tables for countries, methods, sample types, and authors.
  • Split multi-country cells into one row per country-study pair so map and trend visuals do not require parsing comma-separated text.
  • Use controlled vocabularies for methods such as `qPCR`, `Metagenomics`, `Kirby-Bauer`, and `Broth Microdilution` to avoid near-duplicate labels.
  • Add explicit fields for `method_family`, `sample_type`, `wastewater_stage`, `income_group`, and `study_design` for cleaner slicing.

For the review / PDF findings

  • Keep the world map, but pair it with a method-family Sankey and a publication timeline with method stacking.
  • Add a country-by-method heatmap to show where phenotypic versus genotypic surveillance dominates.
  • Use small multiples for sample counts, study duration, and MIC/MBC reporting rather than mixing these dimensions into one figure.
  • Surface key denominators directly in captions, for example total studies, countries covered, and the post-2019 growth share.
